wedding, part one: getting ready

our “getting ready” photos:
we both got ready at my (tae’s) parents’ home along with our wedding party, tae upstairs and jeff downstairs. the cufflinks (J and T for Jeff and Tae) were my wedding gift to my groom, and Jeff gave me a beautiful necklace with three vintage marriage charms: wedding bells symbolizing celebration, an engagement ring for commitment, and a heart for true love. also, check out the photo of Jeff shaving: those are my parents’ wedding vows framed on the wall! after we were all ready, we had our “first look” out in the back yard, and we’ll post those pictures next…

reunions preview

this is how we spent our weekend.

we will post more photos of this princeton craziness and the friends we shared it with soon!

Bo’s playdate

bo met his match cat. And his name is max.

a few weeks ago, we got together with some dear friends for dinner, and Bo finally had a chance to meet their adorable, friendly cat, Max. we were so excited for them to have a playdate; we all whipped out our cameras to document the occasion, just like parents of human babies (as opposed to fur babies) would do. at first, Max hid under the chair when Bo came in, but he was so sweet and let Bo come up to him and give him a little sniff.here Max seemed really perplexed as to why Bo would dare enter his parents’ room (Bo was being pretty adventurous)… so Max followed him and then stood guard by the door. then Bo got all nervous and wasn’t sure how to get past Max. he eventually mustered up the courage, and then proceeded to eat Max’s cat food (after he was told that he could, of course)… Max wasn’t quite sure what to make of that either.  overall, they took turns being curious (one played hard-to-get while the other was interested). we wish Bo had been more playful, but at least they got along!

this week.

roller coaster: simultaneously, my week (in the bad, metaphorical way) and what i would rather be doing (in the good, literal way).

california dreaming…

over the weekend, Jeff and I were reminiscing about how much we loved staying at the carneros inn a few years ago and how we so wished we were there now instead of studying for exams. then, coincidentally, Alaina over at LiveCreatingYourself blogged raved yesterday about how much she loved this place, too. that prompted me to dig around for these old photos from our august 2009 trip. (since i was 9 years old there have only been one or two California-less years, due to my dad’s work events, and friends and family who are based there; in more recent years, there have even been biannual trips since Jeff’s dad lives there now. sadly, there was no 2010 california visit, but we’re hoping to make it west soon! and definitely swing by Carneros again).

[all photos ours, …and p.s. i loved that red mug from the Boon Fly Cafe so much that i bought it so it could come home with me. it makes everything taste better.]

truth.

as true as ever… final exams done this Friday.

south african sunset.

beautiful sunset over Gansbaai and Walker Bay on the Western Cape of South Africa. still feels kind of like a dream. [october 2010]

thinking of…

have you noticed the animated dance on google today?

it reminded me of how much we loved (LOVED) this beautiful video from the same talented artist, Ryan Woodward, when we saw it a while back:

isn’t it amazing? it’s such a visually stunning animation, and the way it captures the emotion and movement of dance is incredible. (times like these make me wish i still danced.)

you can also have a look at the making of the video here. and the full animation for google can be found here. oh, and happy birthday, Martha Graham!
